John D. Puckett 85 of 2530 Fair Ave. Newberry died Monday June 30 2003 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.Mr. Puckett was born on September 24 1917 in Laurens County a son of the late G. R. and Florence Brown Puckett. He was an Army veteran of WW II and he was a retired employee of the Kendall Company Oakland Plant Mr. Puckett is survived by his wife Florence Littlejohn Puckett of the home; a daughter and son-in-law Margie and Thom Peer of Brunson SC; two step-daughters and sons-in-law Mildred and Larry Champion of Newberry and Dorothy and John Smith of Jacksonville Fl; a brother and sister in law Otis and Dorothy Puckett of Whitmire; five grandchildren who were reared in the home Casey S. Morgan Misty W. Stockman Melissa Barbare Nickie Woodward and Woody Champion; two great grandchildren Christopher and Danielle Reeves; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Elbert Puckett and sisters Lois Rollins Inez Lawry Lola Eskews and Ruth English.Funeral services for John D. Puckett will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. Johnny Burgess. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery.Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 PM Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.Active pallbearers will be Johnny Stockman Casey Morgan Kenny Barbare Larry Champion Ian Atkin Johnny Smith and Woody Champion.
