John L. "Tony" Antoinette, 77, of Chapin, died on Sunday, December 9, 2018 in Columbia, SC.
Born on February 2, 1941 in Miami, Florida, he was a son of the late John and Elsie Mae Baxley Antoinette.
Mr. Antoinette was a 20 year veteran of the US Navy serving during the Vietnam War and retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Additionally, he was retired from SCE&G following 15 years of employment and from ArctiChill.
He was an Atlanta Braves and Miami Dolphins fan. He also enjoyed watching wrestling. Golf, fishing and bowling were favorite pastimes and he liked playing cards and trivia.
Mr. Antoinette is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna Marie Antoinette; children, Robert Antoinette (Kimberly) of West Columbia, TX, Scott Antoinette (Dawn) of Chapin, Leann Phillips (Jayson Mowry) of Columbia, Traci Livingston (Rodney) of Pomaria and Teri Hickox (Anthony) of Middleburg, FL; grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Amber Phillips and Ashley and Wesley Livingston, Anthony Hickox (Misty), Andrew Hickox and Ashlee Rogers (Brian); 2 step- grandsons, Tyler Lovell (Caitlin) and Josh Lovell; 4 great grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; and a brother, Albert Antoinette (Linda) of Okeechobee, FL.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Eric Antoinette and sisters, Berdina and Betty.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 17 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel in Newberry, 1704 College St., conducted by the Rev. Paul Allen. Interment with military honors will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the residence, 326 Smallwood Dr., Chapin and will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday, December 16 at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Chapin, 936 Chapin Road.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Livingston, Wesley Livingston, Robert Antoinette, Scott Antoinette, Jayson Mowry and Eric Boland.
