Johnnie Emerson Baker, 101 of Whitmire died February 12, 2017 in Conway, SC. Born on September 1, 1915 in Danville, VA, she was a daughter of the late John B. and Lillian Eliott Emerson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Whitmire Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mrs. Baker is survived by her children, Jewell B. Nelson of Whitmire, Elaine B. Dowdeswell of Spartanburg, Weldon Baker, Jr. of Clinton, and Gaius Baker of Conway; 17 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren,and 5 great-great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Weldon Baker; brother, William Thomas Brock, Jr., and half sister, Katherine Welch. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 PM Sunday at the Whitmire Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will be in the Springdale section of Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry.
