Mr. Joseph (Joe) Francis Schelble, born on October 6, 1937 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to the late Lucille Hartnagel and the late Joseph Francis Schelble Sr., passed away at the age of 80 on September 9, 2018 in Chapin, South Carolina.
Joe graduated from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse and joined the 3M Corporation in St Paul, MN as a chemist in 1960. After several years in the lab, he joined the marketing team as a development manager over new products and in 1979 moved his family to Chapin, SC to take a position as a Sales Representative in the Surgical Products Division. He retired from 3M in 2002 after spending 42 years with the company.
Joe was the loving husband of Rosalie Charlotte Schelble. He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory James Schelble. Joe is survived by his sons, Pat (Meg), Mike (Sherry), Joe (Brook), John (Julie), and Jim (Denise); brother, Sam (Judy); grandchildren, Kelsey Conner, Patrick, Eric, Chase, Hayden, Noah, Griffin, Addy, Beau, Alyssa, and Amanda; and great-grandchild Avery Conner. He also leaves behind his dog, Harris.
He was an avid sports fan, prolific football coach in White Bear Lake, MN, and a true family man. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church as well as a weekly volunteer at Chapin We Care and Meals on Wheels. He was a spectator at hundreds of his kids and grandkids sporting events through the years.
Those who knew him well will miss his smile, wisdom and wit.
Visitation for friends and family will be on Friday, September 14 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 195 Amick's Ferry Road, Chapin, SC 29036.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the church sanctuary at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Dennis B. Willey. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
