Joseph Smith 80 of Chapin SC died Thursday July 30 2015 at Agape Hospice House in Columbia. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Chapin SC with visitation to follow at the church from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 4 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church conducted by Father Andrew J. Vollkommer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born on January 20 1935 in New York he was a son of the late Joseph and Anna Morley Smith. Mr. Smith was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. His work career was in banking serving as Vice President of Operations in New York City Washington and Baltimore. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and the mens club. He also served as a volunteer at the Navy Academy Museum in Annapolis. Sailing reading and gardening were some of his favorite hobbies and he also enjoyed Navy football games. He is survived by his wife Patricia Pat Smith of Chapin; children Joseph Smith (Patricia) of Tucson AZ Michael Smith (Jean) of Chapin SC Gracemarie Smith (Chris) of Severna Park MD Timothy Smith (Vanessa) and Maureen Smith both of Brooklyn NY and Matthew Smith (Sara) of Austin TX; grandchildren Kevin Jessica Kathryn Joseph Kathleen Susannah and Heath Smith and Hannah and Brian Wiseman; siblings James Smith (Kathy) of Kansas City KS and Carol Croissant (Ed) of Trinity FL.
