Obituary

Juanita Nita Williams Frazier 89 of Newberry beloved wife and mother died Friday June 8 2012 at her residence. Visitation was from 10:00 until 10:45 AM Monday in Truesdell Hall of Aveleigh Presbyterian Church. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM Monday at Aveleigh Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dr. Mitchell Van Metre. A private family burial did follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Born February 17 1923 Nita was the daughter of the late J. Barney Williams and Juanita Azilee Yonce Williams. Nita finished Tubman High School in Augusta GA. While attending the University of SC she read to sight-impaired students to help them with their studies. Her education was interrupted by World War II and in 1962 she completed her degree in History graduating magna cum laude from Newberry College. She delighted in serving and glorifying God by being an active 66 year member of Aveleigh Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School was awarded a life time membership in the Presbyterian Womens Organization and was one of the two first female Elders elected to govern serve and lead Aveleigh. Her humble service left a lasting mark on the church family. Her other passions included bridge reading and community involvement. She delighted in Gods creation through her love of gardening flower arranging bird watching and stopping to notice the small beauties and gifts of life. She loved to share these gifts with all who were in need. In addition to her beloved husband of 69 years John Rhett Frazier Sr. she is survived by a son John Rhett (Brenda ) Frazier Jr. of Newberry; a daughter Susan Frazier (Rusty) Newton of Lexington; grandchildren John Rhett (Gready) Frazier III of Prosperity Julianne Frazier (Joe) Reynolds of Columbia William Blair Frazier of Newberry Jennifer Newton (Ralph) Warnock of Chapin James Bradford (Theresa) Newton of Birmingham Alabama and Robert Frazier Newton of West Columbia; 10 adored great grandchildren; sisters Catherine Williams Ford of Columbia and Frances Williams Prater of Batesburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Betty Williams Warr of Augusta GA and Bonnie Williams Ricks of Savannah GA. Memorials maybe made to Aveleigh Presbyterian Church 1211 Calhoun Street Newberry S.C. 29108. Pallbearers will be grandsons John Rhett Frazier III James Bradford Newton Robert Frazier Newton William Blair Frazier Ralph Dobbie Warnock and Joseph Craig Reynolds.
