Juanita White Duffie 74 resident of J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home died Thursday September 5 2013. A worship service celebrating the life of Juanita White Duffie was held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday September 9 2013 at the Newberry Associate Reform Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tony Locke officiating. Interment immediately following at Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family was at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Travis Poole 1094 Timberwood Trail Newberry SC and did receive friends and family at the fellowship hall at the Newberry A.R.P. Church on Sunday September 8 from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Born in Spartanburg County on November 22 1938 she was the daughter of the late Joseph Howard and Ione Poteat White. She grew up in Prosperity S.C. and graduated from Prosperity High School in 1958. In 1963 she married Waters Duffie and they made their home in the Mt. Bethel Garmany Community of Newberry. Nita worked for many years at Old School Manufacturing prior to dedicating her time to home for the primary purpose of rearing her children. She was a member of the Newberry Associate Reform Presbyterian Church and an active part of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and Circle No. 4. She had been a faithful member of the Parents Council at Newberry Academy while her children were in attendance there. She was an avid square dancer and a member of the Mid Carolina Twillers and the Smilin Swingers square dancing clubs. She was a talented seamstress creating a wide range from prom dresses to Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. Surviving are her daughter Dannette Duffie Poole (Travis) of Newberry; a son Edwin Lee Duffie (Jennifer) of Greenwood two grandsons Carter Lee Duffie and McCain Mac Alexander Duffie both of Greenwood and two sisters Nannie Faye Gore of Newberry and Martha Jo Jodie Boozer Black (George) of Prosperity. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by siblings Libby Rose Helen Morris J.K. White and Olin White. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Fellowship Sunday School class of the Newberry A.R.P. Church Nick Davenport Yoder Bedenbaugh Carolyn Shealy Mary Dove Nichols Patsy Morris and Judy Epting.
