Judge Raymond L. Acosta 89 of Chapin South Carolina and San Juan Puerto Rico died at his SC residence on December 23 2014. Private family services will be held at a later date. Born on May 31 1925 in New York NY he was the son of the late Ramn and Carmen Acha Acosta. Judge Acosta was a veteran of WW II. After service in the U.S. Navy and participation in the Normandy invasion on D-Day he studied at Princeton University and Rutgers University where he received his law degree. He severed as a Federal Judge with the U.S. District Court in San Juan PR from 1982 to 2010. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Marie Hatcher Acosta; children Regina Acosta Tobin (Jeffrey) of Columbus OH; Gregory Acosta of Los Angeles CA; and Annie Acosta Thomas (Kenneth) of Washington DC; siblings Melinda McViccar (Patrick) of Manhasset NY and Evelyn Acosta of Rio Grande Puerto Rico; and grandchildren Alexander Thomas Ryan Thomas and Kevin Acosta. He was predeceased by brothers Carlos Acosta and George Acosta.
