Judith "Judy" Williams Chappell, 84, of Newberry, died on Monday, June 5, 2023 at White Oak Manor.

Born on January 29, 1939 in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Dorothy "Dot" McCary Williams.

Judy was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, participating in the choir for many years. She worked as the secretary of the Superintendent in the Newberry County School District for 30 years. After retirement, she volunteered at the Newberry Opera House as a greeter and a tour guide, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Judy also enjoyed flower gardening, often sharing them with others.

She is survived by a son, Charlie Chappell (Ana) of Simpsonville; daughter, Tessa Chappell of Newberry; grandchildren, Reid Dickert, Codie Dickert, Cohen Chappell, Walker Chappell, and Halle Chappell; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles "Chuck" D. Chappell, Sr.; step-daughter, Delene Dickert; grandchild, Colt Dickert; bother, James Seth Williams; and sister, Sue Williams Laster.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Rodney Gunter at St. James Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 4:00 PM. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the burial.
