Judith Judy Sumner Wise 70 of Newberry died Sunday March 23 2014 at her residence. Born on October 4 1943 in Union County she was a daughter of Savanah Shaw Sumner of Newberry and the late Marion J. Sonny Sumner. Judy was a woman of strong faith a loyal servant of God and a devoted and faithful member of Prosperity Church of God. She was a loving wife mother grandmother daughter sister and a friend to everyone she ever met. In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband of 52 years 6 months 27 days 4 hours and 15 minutes Walter T. Wise; her daughter Amy Wise White (Dwayne) of Prosperity; sons James T. Jamie Wise (Lynda) of Newberry and Tony Wise (Elaine) of Kinards; sisters Mae Sample (John) Ruth Hamilton (Robert) and Vivian Long (Ray) all of Newberry; brothers James E. Buddy: Sumner (Pam) of Newberry; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several loving nieces and nephews and her cherished church family. Funeral services were conducted at 4:00 PM Thursday March 27 2014 at Prosperity Church of God by the Rev. James Chaffins Rev. Vernon Koon and Rev. Michael Davis. Interment did follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family did receive friends on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Pallbearers were Dwayne White Alex Wise C. J. Wise Michael Hester Shane Taylor Edward Taylor and Dustin Phillips. Honorary pallbearers werre the staff of Tri County Hospice and of Newberry County Memorial Hospital members of Newberry Rescue Squad Station 14 and Rev. Wayne Tobias..
