Julia Myers Floyd widow of Dr. John "Jack" Spearman Floyd III entered into eternal rest Saturday October 292005.Born in Indiana she was the daughter of the late Frank and Charlotte Roberts Myers. She lived her early years in Charleston SC graduating from Bishop England High School and St. Francis Xavier Hospital School of nursing. After marriage to Dr. Floyd they spent several years at Barber's Point Naval Station Hawaii Great Lakes Naval Station and Charleston Naval Base while Dr. Floyd was serving his country with the United States Navy. They remained in Charleston where she worked for many years with Dr. Floyd in his private practice. Moving to Newberry in 1983 she continued to assist him with his practice. Following his death in 1989 she eventually returned to nursing and was employed for several years with J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home until her retirement in 2000. Her remaining years were spent residing in Silverstreet with her son Frank.Mrs. Floyd is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law Dr. and Mrs. Steven Gaines (Charlotte) of Columbus Ohio and daughter Julia Ann F. Serio of Newberry; two sons John S. Floyd IV of Prosperity and Frank M. Floyd and his fiancée Brandi L. Hill of Silverstreet; 11 grandchildren; Rebecca Christopher Daniel and Eric Gaines Matthew Timothy Nicole Joseph and Lucy Floyd Jonathan and Ashley Serio; one great-grandchild Britlyn Serio; one brother; Beaufort Myers of Hot Springs Arkansas; and a sister; Martha M. Thiel of New Orleans LA.The family also wishes to gratefully acknowledge her caring and compassionate hospice nurse Richard Cates.Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday November 1 2005 at Trinity United Methodist Church by Rev. Hugh Bickley. Entombment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens.Visitation was from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
