Kathleen Bedenbaugh Bishop Riley, 91, of Newberry, died Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at White Oak Manor. Born on September 25, 1925, she was a daughter of the late John P. and Florence Harmon Bedenbaugh. As long as her health permitted, Mrs. Riley was an active member in worship and Bible study at Smyrna Presbyterian Church. She was a former youth leader and Sunday school teacher. Kathleen had a close relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her life was a daily sermon and example to all of us of love, hope, and grace. She never spoke a cross word about anything or anyone. Her greatest joy was spending time admiring God's creation from her porch or the passenger side of a car traveling the countryside. She lived a full life with no regret. She is survived by children, Shirley B. Mills of Newberry and Ronnie W. Bishop (Debbie) of Greenwood; siblings, Coy Bedenbaugh (Margie) of Lexington and Gurney Bedenbaugh of Easley; the pride of her life, her grandchildren, Douglas Mills (Christy), Michael Mills (Maggie) and Jay Bishop (Stephanie); great grandchildren, Emily Mills, Ryan Mills, Katie Mills, and Kathleen Mills; and a number of nieces and nephews including Melvin Pucket of Campobello who was raised in her home. She was twice married, first to the late J. H. Bishop and second to the late Jesse C. "Cotton" Riley. Besides her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by her siblings; Daniel, Landy, Alvin, and Mary Bedenbaugh, and son-in-law Edward Mills The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Thursday at Whitaker Funeral Home.
