Sandra Kay Porter, 76, of Newberry passed on to the afterlife in the early morning of April 28th under hospice care at Prisma Richland Hospital in Columbia.

Born February 21, 1947, in Lexington, SC, she is the daughter of the late Claude Elbert Metts and Julia Annie Mae Meetze Metts.

She was a life-long follower of Jesus and loved God with all her heart. She believed in the written Gospels and purposely sought to follow the example Jesus set for us in her daily life and in her relationships with everyone. She accepted all people without question and in love. (Matthew 22:37-40)

She retired from banking at the age of 50 and spent her remaining years taking care of family members. She greatly enjoyed her morning two-mile walks through the downtown area, long daily spiritual contemplations, reading, puzzles, coloring and watching the evening news. She loved her family and did all she could to support them in their endeavors in life.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Cecilia Kelly, son-in-law Tim Kelly, and the light of her life, her grandson, Brandon "Wugee" Kelly; her sisters Dot Broughton, Debbie Humm, and Lisa Metts. She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Porter, her parents, her sister Janice Mack, her brother Larry Metts, and her cousin, Bobby Metts, who kept her active and social for most of her retired years.

Her passing was sudden and unexpected. According to her wishes, there will not be a visitation or funeral. She will be cremated, and her final resting place will be beside her husband during a small family ceremony. Her family both morns her loss and rejoices in her moving on to the place Jesus has prepared for her. (John 14:1-6)
