Obituary

Kevin Joseph Mahan, 69, of Chapin, South Carolina, died on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, on March 9, 1956, Kevin was the son of the late Thomas Francis and Julia Theresa Yurkashitis Mahan

Kevin spent his career dedicated to the well-drilling industry business. He worked for his brother, Thomas at the age of eighteen drilling wells. When his M.S. worsened, he stopped drilling wells and began traveling to different states selling riggs and wells. By 1980, Kevin had become unable to work due to his advancement with M.S.

A man of strong faith, Kevin was actively involved with Bethel Baptist Church in Connecticut before joining Chapin Baptist Church. As someone who took every opportunity to learn more about God's word and fellowship with others, he loved attending Bible study at his church. Kevin's faith was a guiding light in his life; he loved reading his Bible and memorizing countless verses.

Outside of work, Kevin had a passion for travel and taking numerous cruises with his wife all around the world. He had a fascination with stock car racing, and his brother's racehorse, Funny Cide, a Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner. As an enthusiast of the TV show "Hudson & Rex," he also adored his German Shepherd, Jesse, and his calico cat, Naomi. Kevin was known for his social nature and loved engaging with everyone he met. His love for food was well-known, Kevin often wanted to take his wife out to dinner to enjoy a nice meal.

A devoted husband, Kevin is survived by his loving wife of nearly 46 years, Cynthia Mahan. He is also survived by his brothers, Tommy and Jimmy Mahan; several nieces and nephews; his brother-in-law, Paul Emutis; and sister-in-law, Dianne Emutis.
