Kyle Richard "Dickey" Summer, 73, of Florence, South Carolina, died Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.
Born Charles Richard Monts on December 3, 1950, in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of the late Miles McCoy Monts and the late Marian Summer Monts.
He spent his childhood years, in Germany, where his father served as an Army Warrant Officer, after his father's retirement the family moved to Cochran, GA.
From his teenage years until his death, he lived in and around Florence. He retired after 34 years with Nucour Steel in Darlington. Dickey was a frequent visitor to Newberry, this was the birthplace of his mother.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Monts, Jr. of Charlotte, NC and Michael Monts of the home; he is also survived by several loving cousins and a sister, Ashley Mon and her husband, Glenn of Lexington, VA.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, March 28, 2024, in Rosemont Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his mother, grandparents and aunts.
The family will gather for a time of visitation following the service.
