L. Joel Perry 82 of Prosperity died Sunday December 27 2015 at White Oak Manor. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday December 30 2015 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. William Hightower. Mr. Perry was born on September 22 1933 in Saluda County the son of Sudie Mae H. Perry and the late T.B. Perry. Joel was a retired employee of The Kendal Co Mollohon and Oakland Plant. He was a member of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church the Prosperity Masonic Lodge #115 the Newberry York Rite Bodies the Hejaz Shrine Temple and the Newberry Shrine Club. Joel was very passionate about his fishing and he was a very good fisherman. Besides his mother of Newbery Joel is survived by his wife Shirley Jones Perry; a son and his wife Leonard Wayne Perry Sr. and Pamela of Newberry; 3 grandchildren Steven Perry Christy Reynolds and Wayne Perry Jr. (Kelly); and 4 great grandchildren Eddie Musgrove Brenna Perry Ashtyn Perry and Eithan Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Newberry Shrine Club.
