Obituary

Larry Senn, 89, of Newberry, died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at White Oak Manor. Born on August 29, 1926 in Silverstreet, he was a son of the late Walter Wallace "Buck" Senn and Mae Lake Senn. Mr. Senn served as a postmaster with the US Postal Service, retiring as Postmaster of the Newberry Post Office. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He was a very active member of First Baptist Church where he attended the Fishers of Men Sunday School Class and had served as a Deacon of the church. Mr. Senn was a former member of the Newberry Exchange Club. In earlier years, he enjoyed coaching little league baseball and together with his wife, traveled on numerous mission trips. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy "Dot" Sterling Senn; son, Wayne Senn (Jean) of Newberry; daughter, Marcia Godwin (Ed) of Irmo; grandchildren, Blake Senn (Brianna), Ashley Holman (Brendan), and Allison Mircea (Christopher); great-grandchildren, Max Senn, Blaine Senn, Lilly Holman, Evelyn Holman, and Tinsley Mircea; brother, Alan Senn (Dot) of Silverstreet; sister-in-law, Troxell Senn of Newberry; and a step-grandson and his family, Luke and Alexa Godwin and their daughter, Hadley. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Duckett and Annie Chunn, and brothers, David, Walter, Forrest, Harry, and Carl Senn. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 1:30 until 2:30 pm at First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm, Sunday, at First Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Albert Allen. Interment will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Fishers of Men Sunday School Class. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, 1020 Boundary St., Newberry, SC 29108.
