Leila Faye Shelley of Pace, Florida, peacefully passed into Glory on September 20, 2026, with her loving family at her side. She was 84 years old.

Faye was born in 1941 in Shoals, Indiana. After graduating from high school, she joined the Navy and served her country as a WAVE. She met Lewis Nathan Shelley on a blind date, and the two were married in October of 1960, after which she was honorably discharged from military service. The Shelley family settled in Pensacola, Florida in 1971 after numerous military relocations.

Faye became a licensed practical nurse and worked at Northview Community Center for over 20 years, providing nursing care for children with intellectual and physical disabilities, which was a career she loved. She was an avid gardener with a particular love of azaleas, and was always happy to share a plant and gardening advice. She was an avid reader and loved Jack Reacher thrillers. She loved music and was especially fond of soft rock and classic country. She was a devoted member of Wallace Baptist Church, and served her church as a volunteer in many events.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband and her brothers Roscoe Davis and Kenneth Davis. She is survived by her daughters Carmen Yon (Terrell) and Angela Hady (Todd), son Kevin Shelley (Patty), and grandchildren Sharon Teague (Jonathan), Brian Hady, Meagan Shelley and Sara Shelley. She is also survived by her sisters Lois Tarr and Velma Bell, and brother Robert Davis.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Wallace Baptist Church, 6601 Chumuckla Hwy, Pace, FL, 32571.

 A Celebration of Life will be held at Wallace Baptist Church on March 6, 2027, when Faye’s adored azaleas are in bloom.
