Leonard R. "Skin" Huffstetler, 86, of Chapin, died on January 22, 2018 at his residence. He was born on May 7, 1931, in Chapin, a son of the late Arthur and Willie Mae Mayer Huffstetler. Mr. Huffstetler was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was involved in three battles during the war including the "Battle of Heartbreak Ridge". He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Chapin and was a self-employed carpenter who along with his brothers built many homes. He is survived by his brother, Jim Huffstetler (Carolyn) of Chapin and sister, Caro Knight of Johnston; sisters-in-law, Frances Huffstetler and Allene Huffstetler both of Chapin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Margie Jordan, Doris Long, Jack Huffstetler, Rudy Huffstetler, Clarence "Hump" Huffstetler, and Nell White. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. Peter Lutheran Church conducted by the Rev. David Tholstrup. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:00 AM. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 900 Dreher Island Road, Chapin, SC 29036.
