Lewis F. Uncle Lew Dale 80 of 216 Abrams St. Silverstreet died Wednesday March 25 2009 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 15 1928 in Hagerstown IN to the late Frank E. Dale and Vivian Mom Dale Collins. Mr. Dale served his country in the United States Marine Corps retiring after twenty years of service. He was also retired from the Newberry County Sheriffs Department as Lieutenant and worked as Bailiff in the Newberry County Court House. Mr. Dale was a member of the Silverstreet Ruritan Club and a volunteer member of the Silverstreet Fire Department. He was a member of Amity Masonic Lodge the Scottish Rites Hejaz Shrine Temple and the Newberry County Shrine Club. He was a very active member of Silverstreet Lutheran Church where he was a past member of the Congregation Council. Surviving are his wife of 55 years Vera Berry Dale; a daughter Shirley F. Fant of Silverstreet; three sisters Margaret Burko of Silverstreet Shirley Moyser of Quincy WA and Iona Mae Cromis of Lytle Creek CA; a brother Warren Dale of Sumas WA; a half brother Calvin Dale of Ohio; three grandchildren Patty Dale John Dale and Bill Dale; nine great-grandchildren Josh Dale Perry Dale Shannon Dale Justin Pitts Shane Dale Chase Dale Savannah Dale Jonathan Serio and Ashley Serio; and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 4 P.M. Saturday at Silverstreet Lutheran Church by the Rev. Steve Jackson the Rev. Dr. Robert McCullum the Rev. Rodney Gunter and the Rev. Arden Hallman. Interment with full military honors was in the church cemetery. Visitation was Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry.
