Linda Epting Koon, 71, of Little Mountain, died Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the Heritage at Lowman in White Rock. Born on April 5, 1946 in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Leland Epting, Sr. and Ruby Lott Epting. Mrs. Koon was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she previously served on Church Council, was a former Sunday School Teacher, and was a member of Alpha Circle and the Primetimers. Linda was a retired public educator teaching at Mid-Carolina High School and Airport High School. Gardening and cooking were some of her favorite hobbies. She is survived by her children, Gerald David Koon, Jr. (Denise) of Little Mountain and Charlotte Koon Ehney (Steve) of Greenwood; grandchildren, Jon-Drayton Ehney, Collin Ehney, Madelyn Koon, and Meredith Koon; siblings, Leland Epting, Jr. (Patsy) and Susan Longshore, all of Newberry, Mary Hallman (Walter) of Surfside, and Janet Morris (Dwain) of Newberry; brother-in-law, Barney Koon (Ann) of Gaston; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerald David Koon, Sr. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Chapin by the Rev David Tholstrup. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the burial. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church Building Fund, 900 Dreher Island Road, Chapin, SC 29036.
