Linda Long Mayer 73 of Newberry died Saturday July 18 2015 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday July 21 2015 at Smyrna Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Bryan Wright and Rev. Jeff ODell. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home 3243 Belfast Rd. Newberry and also at the church following services on Tuesday. Born in Newberry on Nov. 21 1941 she was a daughter of the late Ben and Mary Blair Long. Linda was a devoted member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church where she belonged to the Adult Sunday School Class and the Esther Circle. She was a loving Christian lady wife mother and grandmother and a very giving person who was always willing to help others before herself. She is survived by her husband H. Elliott Mayer; children Wanda Richardson (Rick) and Guerry Mayer (Delores) both of Newberry; grandchildren Nathan Mayer (Sloan) Kaylee Brehmer (Neal) and Steffen Richardson; sisters Betty Kyzer (Raymond) of Newberry Sylvia Miller of Myrtle Beach and Karen Long of Chapin; and brothers Gerald Long (Frieda) of Shallotte NC Joel Long (Gloria) of Newberry and Phillip Long (Kathy) of Anderson. Pallbearers will be Blair Long Scott Mayer Derek Long Doc Long Brett Waters and Bobby Waters. Memorials are suggested to Smyrna Presbyterian Church Building Fund 32 Smyrna Rd.
