Linnie Bell Derrick Eargle 99 died Wednesday August 20 2014 at Springfield Place Newberry. Born on October 20 1914 she was a daughter of the late Thaddeus David and Lila Bell Eargle Derrick. Funeral Services were at conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday August 23 2014 at Summer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. Stephen Mims. Interment did follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family was at the residence of Dell and Carol Rowe 1110 Timberwood Trail Newberry and did receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Mrs. Eargle retired from Kendall Mills Mollohon Plant and later worked in the laundry department at White Oak Manor for a number of years. She was a devoted member of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church. Mrs. Eargle was active in the WELCA the Visiting Team and the JB Harmon Sunday School class as long as she was able. She previously served as chairperson of the Altar Guild and the Bereavement Meal group for the church. Mrs. Eargle enjoyed the outdoors and especially found joy in her flower gardens. She was affectionately known as Grannybell and will be remembered by her family as a lady with an infectious laugh who loved God her family her church and her friends with all her heart. She is survived by her daughters Faye (Charles) Rister of Walterboro Rita (Larry) Cromer Joyce (Ned) Kesler and Carol (Dell) Rowe all of Newberry; brother ONeil Derrick of Columbia; grandchildren Rhonda Moore Kelly (Rob) Markiewitz Mark (Connie) Kesler Shaun Kesler Paige (David) Nichols Leah (Will) Blackmon Codie Ruff and Amy (Chris) Parks; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Eargle was predeceased by her husband John Alan Eargle; sisters Lucille Epting Reba Wingard Anita Metze Kathleen Nobles and Margaret Corley; brothers Homer Horace and Walter Derrick; and a son-in-law David Earl Wicker. Pallbearers were Kenny Mazza Randy Suber Terry Morris Vernon Hawkins Kenneth Corley Michael Mills Sam McCollum and Morris Jones. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Visiting Team the Mary Lindler Circle and Unit 4 staff at Springfield Place Mary Susan Mazza Dorothy Dot Goggans Caroline Fulmer and Chaplain Charles Pollock.
