Litsa Galanis Economos 74 of Newberry died on August 28 2012. Litsa was born in 1938 in Vassara Laconia Greece. She was the daughter of George and Strategoula Galanis. A few years after her marriage to Plato Economos the couple moved to Newberry (1963) where they owned and operated Sunset Drive In Restaurant (also known by many as Platos) until Platos death in 1977. Litsa continued her restaurant business throughout the years until her recent retirement in early 2012. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Columbia. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Toula Economos and Hal Hubbard of Charlotte; grandchildren Christopher and Zo Hubbard; step-granddaughter Andrea Hubbard brothers Denis (Vicki) Galanis of Long Island NY and Kosta Galanis of NY NY; nephew George Galanis of Long Island NY. She was predeceased by her husband Plato Economos and son Chris Economos. Funeral services were conducted at 4:00 PM Saturday September 1 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by Father Michael Platanis. Interment did follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 6:00 to 7:30 PM Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Memorials may be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 1931 Sumter Street Columbia SC 29201.
