Lonnie David Welch, age 78, of Kinards, SC died Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Laurens County Hospital. Born June 13, 1945 in Manning, SC, he was a son of the late Melvin and Luvenia Miles Welch. He was married for 47 years to Eva Viola Lingle Welch.

David retired from a career as a lineman for the City of Newberry. He was known for his hard work and dedication to a job well done.

Away from work, he lived a quiet life of faith and family. He loved his cats and listening to all sorts of music. David had a great sense of humor, which helped him to overcome some significant challenges over the course of his life. He was dearly loved and is deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Lonnie Welch, Jr.; a sister, Faye Sandaford; and special friends, Charles and Amanda Sims and Dannette and John Earl Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Welch and a brother, Ronnie Welch.

Private graveside services were held at Bush River Baptist Church Cemetery.
