Loretta Rose Brooks Aiken, 76, of Prosperity, SC died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Greenville, SC, on August 14, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Elizabeth Johns Brooks.
She was a member of Chapin Baptist Church, a dedicated Christian, and enjoyed singing in the choir. She retired from a 50 year career in insurance. She was a die hard Kentucky Wildcats fan as well as a Cincinnati Reds baseball fan and loved pretty lamps and decorating.
She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, loved her family and friends and always put others before herself.
Compassionate, tender hearted, gracious, generous, kind-souled and kind hearted, honest, unselfish and happy are several of the words that best describe her.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James Lawrence Aiken, Sr.; son, Jamie Aiken and Cristen of Prosperity; grandchildren, James Michael Aiken and Cierra Nichole White; sister, Fran Sox of Chapin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Faye Aiken of Greenville, Richard and Donna Aiken of Travelers Rest, and Annette Brooks of Greenville; nephews, Jason Aiken, Chad Aiken, Jeremy Aiken, Mike Brooks, and David Brooks; nieces, Angela Aiken, Crystal Aiken, and Stacey Brooks; great-nieces, Lauren Aiken, Kimberlin Brooks, and Chloe Aiken; great-nephews, Bryson Aiken and Chance Aiken; and a number of cousins.
She was predeceased by her sister, Rebecca Wicker; brother, Bill Brooks; niece, Rhonda Brooks; nephew, Kevin Brooks; and great-nephew, Michael Lee Aiken.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:30 PM on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Chapin Baptist Church.
Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM conducted by the Rev. James Clonts and Rev. Philip Vaughn. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Aiken, Chad Aiken, Mike Brooks, David Brooks, Bob England, and Isaac England.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry McLinden, David Smith, Bob Smith, Steve Smith, Carroll Johns, Gary Johns, Warren Willis, Tommy Strange, Kenny Wicker, Jimmy Greene, Fred McCoy, Bobby Shelnut, and Phil Moore.
