Obituary

Funeral service for Louise Ezell Dawkins 89 was held 2:00 p.m. Sunday January 22 2012 at Dunbar Funeral Home Devine Street Chapel. The family did receive friends from12:30 until 2:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial was on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in Newberry Memorial Gardens with visitation to follow in the family room at the cemetery. Mrs. Dawkins wife of the late Ben Frank Dawkins Jr. for 64 years died Wednesday January 18 2012. Born in Clemson on November 8 1922 she was a daughter of the late Paul Bryson and Helen Johnson Ezell. She graduated from Newberry College in 1943. Mrs. Dawkins loved her family and was very active in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed home crafts especially crocheting. Mrs. Dawkins was a substitute teacher in the Columbia school system. She taught Sunday School at Kilbourne Park Baptist Church for many years and was active in the Women's Missionary Union. She was a founding member of Grace Church of Columbia and will always be remembered as a sweet-spirited gracious "Southern Lady". Surviving are a daughter Sandra D. (Michael) Willis of Columbia; son Bob (Mary Helen) Dawkins of Prosperity; grandsons Paul Willis Ben (Heather) Dawkins; granddaughters Heather (Neil) Stalker Shannon (Thomas) Scruggs Allison (Brian) Jasinski; great-grandchildren Elizabeth Colin and Abigail Stalker Megan Drew Michael and Kendall Scruggs Whit and Anna Jasinski. Memorials may be made to Grace Church of Columbia 2710 Harrison Road Columbia SC 29204 or a charity of one's choice. Dunbar Funeral Home is assisting the family.
