Louise Neal Porter 99 passed away peacefully on Saturday December 18 2010 at her home in Springfield Place Newberry. She was affectionately known as MaMa by those she loved. Mrs. Porter was born on May 8 1911 in Greenwood SC to the late Lucious Forsyth Neal and Frances Williams Neal. Mrs. Porter was a faithful and devoted member of First Baptist Church of Newberry where she attended services every Sunday. Attending church remained a priority for her even in her last years when her hearing and vision was failing her she always managed to make it to church on Sunday. She sincerely loved her pastor and her church. Louise is preceded in death by her husband George and sons Wayne E. Porter and Neal Delano Porter. She is survived by daughters-in-law Judy Porter of Charlotte NC and Anne Porter of Renwick WV; sister Betty Jo Patterson; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous life long friends. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Harmon. The family did greet friends immediately following the service at the church. Interment was at 2:30 PM in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to Mrs. Gloria Long for her friendship devotion and loving care she gave to Louise in the past few years. We knew Gloria would take care of her and love her when we could not be there. The family also wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Springfield Place for their care of Mrs. Porter especially during the last two months.
