Mabel Cromley Nichols, 98, of Silverstreet, SC, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 18, 2017.
She was born on February 17, 1919 in Saluda County, SC and was married to the late Henry H. Nichols.
Mrs. Nichols was a homemaker and was previously employed by the Newberry County School System and retired as a school cafeteria manager at Silverstreet Elementary School.
She was a member of Silverstreet Lutheran Church, The Elsie P. Nichols Sunday School Class, WELCA, and SALT. Mrs. Nichols was also a member of the Home Demonstration Club and the Ruritan Club. Flower gardening was one of her favorite pastimes.
She is survived by her daughter, L. Kay Mueller (Joe) of Johns Creek, GA; sons, H. Edwin Nichols of Florence, SC and Dr. J. Wade Nichols (Paula) of Garden City, SC; grandchildren, Shelley Rogers (Andy), Carla Kurdupski (Derek), Melissa Shrager (David), Emily Mickel (Craig), Matt Mueller, Vandelyn Nichols, and Julia Nichols; and great-grandchildren, Wesley Thompson (Taylor), Kayla Thompson, Nathan Rogers, Leila Rogers, Thomas Mickel, and Nadia Shrager.
In addition to her loving parents and husband, she was predeceased by a dear sister, Verna Forrest.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 4:00 until 5:00 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry, SC.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 27, 2017 at Silverstreet Lutheran Church by the Rev. Harry Crout.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Elsie P. Nichols Sunday School Class.
