Marcus Boyd Hendrix, Jr., 96, of Newberry, passed away at his home Tuesday morning, January 21, 2025.
Born in Newberry December 22, 1928, he was a son of the late Marcus Boyd Hendrix, Sr. and Eula Pitts Dennis Hendrix. He was predeceased by his wife Alfreida Livingston Hendrix.
Marcus was a faithful lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He worshiped there and attended The Sunday school class taught by the late Mr. Charlie Senn. Over the years, he served on many committees and helped maintain the church and cemetery grounds.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and shared many memories of his time in Alaska. After returning home, he saw milled and farmed with his father and brother. Marcus was proud of his hard and dedicated work maintaining the family farm. He took pleasure working with his hands. Marcus worked and retired from ISE America Inc. as a diesel mechanic. He thoroughly enjoyed farming, raising beef cattle, sawing and cutting wood and watching his family grow up in his retirement.
He is survived by his two daughters, Susan H. (Danny) Cook and Tammy D. Hendrix; Grandsons Corey (Abbi) Cook; Will (Loren) Cook; great grandchildren Raine, Emma, and Ryder Cook; sister Fronie Chaney; sister-in-laws Christine L. Hendrix, Dianne L. Graham, Judy C. Livingston, Barbara W. Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Marcus (Mark) Boyd Hendrix III; sisters Mae Wiehrs, Corine Merritt, Lillian Bouknight, Martha Bowers, Leora Walker, Betty Willingham; brothers Clarence Dennis and Harold Hendrix.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, January 24, 2025, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1160 Trinity Church Rd, Newberry, SC.
The family will gather for visitation, prior to the service at the church, beginning at 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Willingham, Jody Chaney, Ashley Rowe, Michael Bouknight, Stanley Livingston, Keith Hendrix, Roger Graham, and Doug Graham.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1160 Trinity Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108 or to a charity of one's choice.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Alan Paysinger, and Cait, RN and Kiara, CNN with Three Oaks Hospice for their compassionate care of our father.
