Margaret "Peggy" C. Maguire, 89, of Ligonier passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, while staying with one of her daughters in South Carolina.
Born November 6, 1928, in New Concord, Ohio, she was the daughter of Edwin M. and Dora Elizabeth (Martin) of Indiana, Pennsylvania.
Peggy was a graduate of Indiana High School. She received her bachelor degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and completed master degree credits as part of her continuing education.
Peggy was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was a 50-plus year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was retired from Ligonier Valley School District, where she had been an elementary teacher. Peggy was devoted to her family and dearly missed her husband, Gerald. She enjoyed hand-stitching and knitting beautiful creations for family and friends. She enjoyed sharing her love of knitting as well as teaching others to knit. She loved color, whether in yarn, fabric, or orchids.
Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald, parents, two sisters, Katherine Barnett and Nikhi Holsinger, several brother- and sister-in-laws, several nieces and nephews, and a son-in-law.
She is survived by her four children, Gerald (Marilyn) of Stockholm, Sweden, Marsha (John) Roth of Wheeling, WV, Nancy (Paul) Rhodes of Chapin, South Carolina, and Joyce Williams of Savannah, Georgia; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three siblings, A. Martin (Eileen) Clark of Rehobeth Beach, Delaware, Edwin (Jean) Clark of Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Susan Craig (Jack Borowski) of Merritt Island, Florida, several sisters-in-laws and brother-in-laws.
Funeral services will be in New Concord, Ohio with burial in New Concord Cemetery.
