Mrs. Margaret Pearl Posey "Peg" formerly of Jane Lew, WV passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter, Joyce, in Prosperity, South Carolina on February 11, 2018 at the age of 84. Margaret was born to Hiram and Margaret Grimm on September 24, 1933 in Fairchance, PA. She was the oldest of seven children and set an example for all of them. Her siblings fondly remember her bringing home craft ideas to create with them, including a memory making paper hats out of newspaper. As she was entering high school, her family moved from Pennsylvania to West Virginia. Peg graduated from Unitus High School in West Milford, WV and promptly began work at Western Union in Washington, DC as a telegraph operator. Returning home to WV, she wed her high school sweetheart Newton Stanley Posey. They worked hard, both full time. After work, they tended to animals, garden, horses and farm. Amazingly, Peg would always find time to cook "just the way" Stan liked. They had two children, Butch and Joyce. When the children were younger, they would often buy a calf and raise it to butcher. However, this raising of livestock would often turn problematic after the kids named and then became attached to the calf. When the meat was served, Joyce and Butch would refuse to partake in these "Bessie" burgers. Peg worked for Southern States in Weston, WV until retirement. After retirement, she and Stan enjoyed several years together working around their home and property. They loved to sit and reminisce together swinging outside while enjoying the breeze and sounds of nature. Her late passion was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Peg had a servant heart. Her dedication and generosity usually left you over-fed with some money in your pocket. Peg is survived by her son, Butch Posey and wife Joyce; her daughter, Joyce Peters and husband Gary; her siblings, Lillian Ploegsma, Martha Roeller and husband Jerry, Hiram Grimm and wife Michaele, Bonnie Grimm and Bertha Cummings; grandchildren: Shane Posey and wife Felicia, Joshua Canfield and wife Brandi, Jessica Swann and husband Zachariah, April Herndon and husband Derrick, James Posey, Terra Rowan; eleven great grandchildren: Addisyn, Lila, Kathryn, Evan, Wesley, Brody, Scarlett, Stella, Codey, Kylie, and Kyran. She is preceded in death by her husband, Newton Stanley Posey and her sister Loretta Jean Grimm. There will be a celebration of life at Chapel in the Pines, Gateway Baptist Church in Chapin, SC on February 17, 2018 at 2 pm. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 24, 2018 held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jane Lew, WV where she will be laid to rest beside her forever love, Stan.
