Maria Mary Perez Smith 55 of Newberry died Wednesday Jan 5 2011. Born on July 18 1955 in Harlingen TX she was a daughter of Rebeca Sepulveda Perez and the late Ramon Perez. Ms. Smith was the co-owner of Work Services in Newberry and was a member of the Newberry Lions Club. She was also involved in volunteer work with Senior citizens organizations. She is survived by a son Buck Smith of Eldon MO; foster children Ge Vue Leng Vue and Kou Vue all of Crescent City CA; brothers David Perez of Newberry Sid Perez of Leveland TX and Lewis Perez Phillip Perez Tommy Perez Martin Perez and Ramon Perez Jr. all of Whiteface TX; sisters Margie Woods of Leveland TX Angie Salgado of Toledo IA and Beatrice Fanning of Brownwood TX; and 3 grandchildren Dillon Cole and Ty Smith. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday January 8 2011 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Floyd Sides.
