Obituary

Marion "Mac" J. Livingston, 77, of Newberry died on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at his residence.

Born on June 20, 1945, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Arthur O'Neal Livingston and the late Bessie Long Livingston Overstreet Turner.

Mac was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He worked for many years as the pressman for Newberry Publishing which among other things, published the Newberry Observer. He took great pride in his work and won numerous awards for his craft. He was a former member of the Press Association of North Carolina and retired from the Newberry Observer in 2007 after 37 years of service.

Mac was extremely active in his community. He was a Life Member of the Amity Lodge and member of the Newberry Chapter 226 and Little Mountain Chapter 276 Order of the Eastern Star. He was involved in many Square -Dancing clubs across the state of South Carolina. Mac loved square dancing and was a strong advocate for the art, recruiting people to participate in the fun and join the square-dancing circles. He was recognized for his efforts and received the Distinguished Service Award.

In addition to dancing, Mac loved the outdoors, especially when spending time with his family. Whether it was camping or fishing, riding motorcycles, or trying new water sports, Mac was always up for it. He had a sense of humor about him, even during the hard times, he would find something to make you smile.

Mac loved being around people and he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Angela Kibler Livingston; sons, Michael Jay Livingston (Auddra) of Sumter, SC and Mark Livingston (Cassie) of Simpsonville, SC; brother, Jimmy Livingston (Barbara); sisters, Lonnette Turner (Randy) and Essie Griffin (Bright); grandchildren, Alexis Brock (Haskell), Mikel Livingston, Nate Livingston, Aerabella Livingston, Corbin Livingston, Ashlyn Livingston, Christian Livingston, and Leah Lambert; great-granddaughter, Meridia Brock; God-daughter, Amy Metts; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Robert "Bob" Livingston, Jake Livingston, and William Livingston; and sister, Helen Livingston.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Bethany Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday June 8, 2023, at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry.

Active pallbearers will be Allen Livingston, David Kibler, Nick Brown, Anthony Smith, Keith Minick, and Casey Lathren, Ernie Kibler, and Robbie Livingston.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sammie Graham, Donnie and Annett DeVore, Al and Amber Tarver, Abby Dominick Lassiter, Fran Merchant, Miriam Dennis, Terry Woodard, Ronnie Fulmer, Julian and Millie Blake, and Marvin Busby.
