Obituary

Services for Marjorie Price McCartha Shealy will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Friday at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel. Internment will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Priceville Rd. Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church (Gilbert), St. Stephen's Lutheran Church (Lexington), Newberry County Memorial Hospital, Newberry Opera House or the charity of one's choice. Mrs. Shealy found eternal peace early Wednesday morning, November 29, 2017. Margie was born August 3, 1922 and was the daughter of Cline L. and Inaweise Price. She was an active member of the Hollow Creek community in Gilbert where she was born and lived until her move to Springfield Place in Newberry in 2014. She was also an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gilbert and an associate member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Lexington prior to their move to Newberry. Margie was retired from the South Carolina Highway Department in Columbia where she was Supervisor of Correspondence. She is survived by her husband Joe L. Shealy of the home, son Dr. Robert McCartha (Kathryn) of Prosperity, grandson, Dr. Douglas McCartha (Mary Catherine) of Greenwood, granddaughter, Frances McCartha Meetze (Kyle) of Gilbert and daughter-in-law Joyce McCartha of Falcon, MO. She is also survived by the Apples of Her Eye, her great-grandchildren, Caroline McCartha, Lucas Meetze, George McCartha and Jacob Meetze. Also surviving her are her stepson, Wayne Shealy (Laura) of Lexington, stepdaughters Brenda Lewis (David) of Easley and Laura Glossen (Charlie) of Augusta, step-grandchildren, Pam, Richard, and Charlie Shealy, Andrew Lewis, and Amanda Cifaldi, and step great-grandchildren. A number of nieces, and great nieces and nephews are left to cherish her memories. Margie was predeceased by her first husband Adair McCartha, son Douglas A. McCartha, brother Ashley Price (infant), and sisters Lovelle Swygert (V.L. "Spark") and Helen Hancock (Ernest) and her nephew Don Hancock. The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Bradberry and the staff of Newberry County Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care, as well as her special helpers from Angel Care, especially Helen Ruff, LaQuinta Wheeler, Tasha Newman, LaShonda Cummings, Lolita Jones and Susan Pace. Barr-Price Funeral Home is in charge of services.
