Obituary

Mark Ernest Cromer, 75, of Newberry, died Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born February 10, 1943 in Newberry, he was a son of the late Harold L. Cromer, Sr. and Myrtle Childress Cromer. He was a retired employee of ASCO Felt in Clinton, SC, a Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam Era and a member of Queens Presbyterian Church. Additionally, he was a former member of the Newberry Moose Lodge. He found enjoyment in fishing and also enjoyed putting together puzzles. Mr. Cromer is survived by his sons, Steve Cromer of Newberry and Charles Cromer of Doylestown, PA; siblings, Kay Wicker and Mimia Cromer both of Newberry; grandchildren, Richard, Chris and Heidi Cromer; six great grandchildren; and number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Linda Lester Cromer and siblings, Bill, Frank and Charles Cromer and Mary Livingston. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 6 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial with military honors will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will received friends on Wednesday, December 5 at the Whitaker Funeral Home from 6:00 until 7:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Mac Bell, Josh Graham, Jeremy Graham, David Lawson, Freddie Harmon and Carrol Koon. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home.
