Marshall Howard Hart 85 native of Mobile Alabama and widow of Marion H. Hart died Saturday November 17 2012 at the J. F. Hawkins Nursing home. The funeral service were conducted at 2:00 PM Monday November 19 at Aveleigh Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Mitchell Van Metre officiating. Interment didfollow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation was at Whitaker Funeral Home on Monday prior to the service from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Born on July 3 1927 in Mobile Alabama she was a daughter of the late Judge Alex T. Howard and Cecile Morrissette Howard. Mrs. Hart was a member of the Class of 1953 of the Presbyterian Assemblys Training School in Richmond VA (now UNION PSCE). She enjoyed the summer of 1952 when as a student she served on the staff of the First Presbyterian Church of Washington North Carolina. She began serving at the Aveleigh Church in Newberry in September of 1953. During the years prior to her retirement she served as Administrative Assistant and D.C.E. of the church. Following her retirement she served as an elder and Clerk of Session. She was member and teacher of the Neil Truesdell Sunday School Class and a member of Circle Presbyterian Women. During her husbands Army career she held leadership positions in the chapel programs at Ft. McPherson GA USAEUR Hdqs. in Heidelberg Germany Ft. Shafter HI and Ft. Jackson SC where she served as president of the Protestant Women of the Chapel. Surviving are sons Robert Howard Hart of Columbus GA and Brett Marion (Macey) Hart of Flower Mound TX; granddaughter Madison Rebecca Hart of Phenix City AL; grandsons Brett Marion Hart Jr. and Bradley Hayden Hart of Flower Mound TX; brothers Rev. Robert C. (Eleanor) Howard of Jackson MN and William E. (Melba) Howard of Oklahoma City OK.; and sisters-in-law Anne (Alex T.) Howard of Mobile AL and Anne (P.J.) Howard of Daphne AL. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her sister Cecile Howard Gardner and brothers Judge Alex T. Howard Jr. and Dr. P. J. Howard. Pallbearers will be Steve Armfield Pete Coleman Bobby Hamby Rhett Frazier Trent Purcell Jim Talbot Otis Taylor Bert Kennedy and Randolph Wilson.
