Mary Catherine Alewine Mills only child of the late William Shelton and Eula Bernice Bouknight Alewine died Sunday April 29 2012 at White Oak Manor in Newberry SC. A graveside service honoring and celebrating the life of Mrs. Mills was held in Rosemont Cemetery on Thursday May 3 2012 at 10:30 AM conducted by her first cousin The Rev. Franklin D. Hartsell of Clemson SC and the Rev. Dr. Richard Goldie of Newberry. The family did receive friends following the service. Born February 28 1918 she had lived her entire life in Newberry. Mary was a faithful and lifelong member of ONeal St. United Methodist Church where she had been organist and choir director for 43 years and had taught private piano lessons in her home. She was a member of united Methodist Women having served as president a member of the Mae Hendrix Circle and was a teacher for the Bernice Martin Sunday School Class. Her Christian faith kindness and humility were the foundations of her character. Many will remember her selfless sharing of her many talents her music and her love of all of Gods creation. Mary was predeceased by her husband Beamon Lominick Mills and is survived by her children Mary Linda (Mac) Hill of Newberry Marcia (Gene) Lucius of Columbia and Stephen Wayne Mills of Newberry; two grandsons Timothy Wayne Sanders of Winston-Salem NC Paul Christopher Sanders (Tracey) of Virginia Beach VA and two great grandchildren Robyn Nicole Sanders and Robert McAfee "Mac" Sanders of Virginia Beach VA.
