Mary Clary Riser 87 of Newberry wife of Wallace Riser died Saturday August 4 2012 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Visitation were from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on Monday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Central United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Tresco Shannon. Interment did follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Born in Newberry on September 3 1924 Mrs. Riser was the daughter of the late Estelle Caldwell and J. Richard Clary Sr. She attended Winthrop College and was an active member of Central United Methodist Church. She traveled the world for 35 years with her military husband extremely proud of his success as an Air Force Colonel. She served several times as president of the Officers Wives Club at different postings. In 1971 she and husband Wallace returned to Newberry where they established Country Clean. She became a partner in the business and took a very active role in the running of the business. Mary enjoyed entertaining and playing bridge and was known for making the best macaroni and cheese that was enjoyed by many. Most significant to the family is that she will be remembered as a beloved wife mother and grandmother. In addition to her husband of almost 68 years she is survived by her children John W. and Lee Coker Riser of Chapin and Kathy R. and Phil Psaila of Kennesaw GA; grandchildren Maggie Psaila and Samir Abdallah Joe and Julie Psaila Lofton Riser and Chris Barnes and Sarah C. Riser; great-grand children Walker and Anisa Abdallah and Trent and Colin Psaila; brothers J. Richard Clary Jr. of Roanoke VA and Fred L. Clary of Surfside Beach. Mrs. Riser was predeceased by siblings Dorothy Amick Saffie Clary Huiet Clary Robert Clary Clarence Clary and Estelle Clary. Pallbearers were David Force Joe Psaila Chris Barnes Joe Looney David Riser and Mike Keim. Honorary pallbearers were Cile and Bob Barber Earl Bergen Sr. Carolyn Wicker and members of her bridge club.
