Mary Claudine Ellisor Hawkins 85 of Columbia died Tuesday December 30 2014 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. Born on April 4 1929 she was a daughter of the late James Roy Duce and Alberta Dook Ellisor. She received her nursing certificate at the S.C. State Hospital in Columbia where she worked for many years. Additionally she worked at the Charleston Roper Hospital for a year. Her child evangelist training was from Tennessee Temple University Mrs. Hawkins was a member of Grace Baptist Church West Columbia and served as the secretary and treasurer for Hawkins Evangelistic Team Inc. since 1973. She was a wonderful cook and housewife. Survivors include her husband of 62 years the Rev. Dr. Irvy J. Hawkins; nephew Stephen Bundrick; and a number of cousins. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a sister Pauline Peewee Bundrick and a brother-in-law Clarence Bundrick. The family will receive friends at Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry on Friday January 2 2015 from 10:00 until 11:00 am. The funeral service will be conducted at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel Newberry at 11:30 AM by Dr. B. Clayton Shumpert. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church 2496 SC Hwy 773 Pomaria SC 29126. Pallbearers will be Richard Summer Jerry Summer Brandon Caldwell Kevin Caldwell Craig Caldwell and Kyle Caldwell. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Senior Saint Sunday School Class of Grace Baptist Church.
