Mary Frances Kinard Bannister 87 formerly of 503 Main Street Newberry died Monday November 21 2011 at White Oak Manor. She was born on September 30 1924 in Newberry a daughter of George Dewey and Estelle Morris Kinard. Mrs. Bannister was employed by Old School Manufacturing for 40 years. After her retirement she worked at Little Folks Day Care. She was a member of ONeal Street United Methodist Church. She was a natural caregiver and her generosity of spirit motivated her in her service to others. Following in her fathers footsteps she served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. Her years with the Scouts combined with her fathers years of Scout leadership totaled more than 110 years. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Robert N. Bob and Janice B. Bannister of Newberry; sister and brother-in-law Patsy and Everett Mays of Newberry; grandchildren James M. Jim Bannister III Brian (Mary) Bannister Brett (Kimberly) Bannister Mark (Kelly) Bannister Ashley Bannister and Clark (Casey) Bannister; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years James M. Bannister Sr.; son James M. Jimmy Bannister Jr.; and a brother Rev. James Ernest Bo Kinard. Graveside funeral services were conducted 4:30 PM Wednesday at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Richard Goldie. The family was at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bannister 2852 Stoney Battery Rd. Newberry. Visitation was from 3:00 to 4:00 PM Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
