Mary Helen Slice Hyler 69 of 1602 First St. Newberry widow of Billy G. Hyler Jr. died Saturday at her residence. She was born on September 24 1939 a daughter of the late James J. "Jim" and Carrie Boland Slice. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.Mrs. Hyler was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law; Bridget and Arthur Moody of Newberry and Jacqueline and Dwight Watson of West Columbia; and a grandson Brandon Hyler of Newberry. She was predeceased by a daughter Rhonda Faye Hyler; and brothers John Slice Jake Slice Sam Slice Calvin Slice Mendal Slice and Robert Slice. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Bethany Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dr. Robert McCullum. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery Springdale Section. The family was at the residence of Bridget and Arthur Moody 208 Rollin Rd. Newberry and did receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Active pallbearers were Bobby Fuller Barry Cathcart Billy Watson JR Roper Brandon Hyler and Lee Turner.
