IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Maxine "Ciny" Brigman
Kinard
August 17, 1944 – August 29, 2024
Mary Maxine "Ciny" Brigman Kinard, 80, died Thursday, August 29, 2024 at NHC Healthcare Clinton, where she was loved like family.
Born on August 17, 1944 in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Tom Jefferson and Mary Shealy Brigman.
Ciny graduated Newberry High School in 1962 and was employed by Southern Bell as the first part-time employee for the company. After her time with Southern Bell, she worked for two years with Newberry County Hospital and then chose to be at home with her family. When her children were older, she went back to work at Speer Street School where she worked as an attendance clerk and in the cafeteria. She retired after 15 years with Speer Street School.
Not one to sit still, Ciny began working for American Greetings and continued for fifteen years and the last five of those she also worked at CVS Stores. She retired again in June of 2015. In addition to her own jobs, she worked with her father, brother, and ex-husband supporting them in their companies.
In her spare time, Ciny enjoyed reading, crocheting and reading books. She especially loved red birds, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, and a crisp Coca-Cola. She was an avid movie go-er and made the best oatmeal and buttered toast. Mamaw, as she was affectionately known by her family, loved fiercely and was fiercely loved.
She was a member of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church and her faith was always an important part of her life. Her love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was unsurmountable. She will always be remembered for her love of Christ and her love of her family.
She is survived by her children, Travis Kinard, Susan Dove (Larry), and Brian Kinard; grandchildren, Brigman, Graydon, Parker Kinard, Jessica Attaway (Trey), Brianna Harris (Austin), and Baylee Kinard; great-grandchildren, Millie Attaway and Harper Harris; brother, Lloyd Brigman (Sherry); sisters-in-law, Carolyn Brigman, Mary Kinard, and Janet Kinard; many wonderful nieces and nephews and their families; and Harvey Kinard, who continued his love for her.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Betty Bradley (Stumpy), and brother, Reggie Brigman.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Rebecca Wicker at 3:00 PM Monday, September 2, 2024 at Summer Memorial Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 PM Monday, at the church.
The family will be at the home of Susan and Larry Dove, 832 Jolly Street Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
