Mary Nancy Robertson 87 of Newberry died Tuesday March 01 2011 at the J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home. Ms. Robertson was born in Newberry SC on August 29 1923 the daughter of the late John W. Robertson and Lizzie Rebecca Wicker Robertson. She was a graduate of Newberry College where she was selected as the 1944 May Queen. She was employed for 29 years with the Internal Revenue Service in Columbia. Mary Nancy was a life long member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. She was an avid bridge player and golfer having won several golf championships. She was also one who enjoyed traveling and was known for her love of animals. Ms. Robertson is survived by cousins Evelyn S. (Cope) Veronee of Cayce Danny (Jenny) Stone of Newberry. Karen (Dave) Robertson of Blowing Rock NC and numerous other cousins. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother Warren Robertson. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 PM Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel in Newberry by the Rev. Dr. David Seymour. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday at Whitaker Funeral Home.
