Mary Ruth Derrick Mack, 92, died Sunday, June 3, 2018 at her residence. Born on November 7, 1925 in Newberry, she was the daughter of the late Mayes and Effie Shealy Derrick. Mrs. Mack was a retired employee of Damon International and was a faithful member of Silverstreet Lutheran Church. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who always put other people before herself. One of her enjoyments was sitting on her front porch. She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Lenny and Lynda Mack and James and Ellen Mack all of Newberry; grandchildren and their spouse, Jamey and Kim Mack, Brian and Lorie Hawkins, Bridget Mack and Brantley Mack; great grandchildren, Kynley, Justin, Camron, and Alexa; sisters-in-law, Gussie Derrick, Frances Mack, and Martha Derrick; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Leroy Mack and her siblings, Mayes, Ralph, Robert, and John Derrick; Hattie Rae Pitts, Grace Pitts, and Jessie Mae Hendrix. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Harry J. Crout and Rev. Steve Jackson. Interment will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family suggest memorials be made to Silverstreet Lutheran Church, 120 Church St. Silverstreet, SC 29145. Active pallbearers will be Jamey Mack, Chris Bouknight, Brian Hawkins, Justin Hawkins, Camron Hawkins, Dean Mack, and Cory Mack.
