Mary Evelyn Summer Shealy Bell, 90, of Mauldin passed away Monday, May 6, 2024 at her home.

Born on March 24, 1934 in Chapin, SC, she was the daughter of the late Charles Everette and Mary Lou Wessinger Summer.

Evelyn retired from St. Francis Hospital System where she worked as a patient representative. She was a member of Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church and her faith was a constant throughout her life.

She loved to read and travel. She enjoyed fellowship with friends and took advantage of the opportunity to take road trips together even if just for the day. She and George took numerous road trips on the motorcycle, seeing the country including the Colorado mountains, the Grand Canyon, Maine and Florida.

Evelyn loved her family and was proud of all they accomplished. She treasured times with grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved being Grandma Evie.

She is survived by her life partner, George Bell of Mauldin; son, Jerry Shealy (Vicky) of Chapin, grandchildren, Tyler Jennings Shealy (Haley) and Brian Kempson Wingard; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Wingard, Jennings Shealy, and Legare Shealy.  She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Anna P. Wingard.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Ron Philabaum at 3:00 PM, Monday, May 13, 2024 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 PM.
