Mary Williams Watkins 81 of 1056 Forrest Ridge Dr. Newberry died Monday September 10 2012 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Visitation was from 6:00 to 7:30 PM Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Winston Yoder. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Born November 18 1930 in Decatur GA she was the daughter of the late Roy W. and Ada Farmer Williams. Mrs. Watkins retired from Barrow County Medical Center as a Registered Nurse. She was a devoted Christian and a member of the Restoration Outreach Center. Mrs. Watkins was an avid reader and crossword puzzle aficionado. Her joyful pastime was enjoying TV and Jethro Gibbs was her man. Her dream was to win a jackpot so she could give it away. She is survived by her daughters Yvonne (Kevin) Rees of Bloomington IL Cheryl (James) Morris of Newberry and Priscilla (James) Waldrep of Ellijay GA; sons R. Dozier Watkins III of Jasper GA and Randall D. (Joyce) Watkins of Ball Ground GA; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; very close cousins Cooper Thomas and Jack (Joy) Thomas; and special friends Milburn and Jami Morris Julia Bowlin Lavonne Alberti and Bette Giles. She was predeceased by her brother John W. Williams.
