Max E. Mundy 76 of 1727 Harrington St. Newberry SC died Tuesday June 28 2011 at Palmetto Richland Medical Center. Born on July 4 1934 in Martin County IN he was a son of the late Claude and Daisy Tincher Mundy. Mr. Mundy retired after 45 years of service as an electronics engineer with L3 Communications- Interstate Electronics Corporation. Throughout his career he worked on a variety of Department of Defense projects. Max was very active in his community. His activities include Vice President of Newberry Master Gardeners Association Board member for The Newberry Community Players and a member of the Newbery County Historical & Museum Society. He was a Toastmaster for over 30 years and recognized as a Distinguished Toastmaster. Mr. Mundy was a dedicated volunteer and supporter of HART-US and The Able Trust programs. Max loved his Newberry home and enjoyed being outdoors on his tractor and working in his flower and vegetable gardens. He was an avid reader and truly loved his Central Church family and Newberry friends. Mr. Mundy was a member of Central United Methodist Church where he served on the Finance Committee was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Men. Max loved his family and was a devoted husband father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Donna Mundy; children Dwayne Mundy Danita Mundy and David Jeffcoat Jr. grandchildren Alex Looke Arielle Mundy Charlotte Stegall DJ Jeffcoat and Jason Jeffcoat; and a brother Morris Mundy of Davis CA. He was predeceased by a brother Merlin Mundy. Memorial services were conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday at Central United Methodist Church by the Rev. Karen Radcliffe.
