Michael K. Hentz, 68, of West Columbia died on Saturday, November 23, 2019. Born on August 26, 1951 in Luling, TX, he was a son of the late Thad Kinard Hentz and the late Billie McDonald. A welder by profession, Michael had a love of the out of doors. Hunting and fishing were some of his hobbies and he also found traveling to be enjoyable. Michael did not meet a stranger. He had a gregarious personality and was blessed with a caring heart. Survivors include his companion of 29 years, Dianne Ott; children; Jason Hentz of Lexington, Catherine Wright of Wilson, NC, Amber Silva of Corpus Christi, TX and Heather Hentz of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Beth Roether of Salisbury, NC; step-mother, Fran Hentz of Prosperity; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Susan Reep. Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 29, from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. A private family ceremony will be held later.
