IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Pickens
Oswald
March 31, 1948 – November 29, 2025
Michael Pickens Oswald, age 77, of Prosperity, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 29, 2025, surrounded by the family who loved him. Born in Newberry on March 31, 1948, he was the son of the late Carolyn Auton Outlaw and Harold Conard Oswald.
Known throughout his life as "Mike," he possessed a warm and engaging presence. He welcomed others with ease, never met a stranger, and leaves behind a wide circle of friends whose lives were brightened by his humor and goodwill.
Following his retirement from the VC Summer Nuclear Station in Jenkinsville, Mike returned to the outdoor pursuits that had shaped his youth – archery, hunting, and fishing. Foremost among these was fishing, a skill and passion instilled in him by "Pop," his maternal grandfather, whose early lessons fostered his lifelong love of the water.
Mr. Oswald is survived by his fiancée, Donna Brown, of Prosperity; his daughters, Tina Carroll of Ninety Six and Carol Jean Downing (Kenny) of Greenwood; his sister, Lynne Grant of Prosperity; his brother, Kenneth Oswald (Leonia) of Greenwood; his niece, Angela Grant of Raleigh, North Carolina; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A service of remembrance will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, White Rock, South Carolina, on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Megan Lineberger will officiate. Visitation will follow immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Mr. Oswald's life may direct memorials to Bethel Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 367, White Rock, SC 29177.
